outpost
: community-building for a new (workplace) frontier
A mobile app that gives remote workers agency and avenues to cultivate meaningful working relationships, on their own terms. Outpost helps you coordinate meetups with fellow coworkers, sorted by proximity, and offers a network of bookable local spaces suitable for working together.

- problem space
53% of remote workers
reported feeling frequently lonely and unsupported in their professional lives, with the highest rates among Gen Z and Millennial workers early on in their careers. Any technological intervention needs to facilitate the development of meaningful professional relationships to combat isolation and stagnation, rather than offer replacements for them.

user research & iterative prototyping
High-Level Needs:
- Lower the barrier to entry to relationship building by making it organic and desirable rather than forced.
- Facilitate opportunities for collaboration and mentorship to combat knowledge siloing and stagnation.
User Testing Findings:
- A way to discover open meetups, with distinct icons for notifications vs invitations.
- a home page with overview information was needed to engage users toward core functions.
- Users desired a more robust filter function when searching both their network and spaces.

two-sided model
Outpost offers subscription-based pricing for mid to large size companies, who benefit from greater employee wellbeing and satisfaction. It also charges reservable spaces nominal booking fees, who are incentivized to participate with greater rates of discovery and business. This model provides outpost with two sources of revenue for sustainable growth, as well as easy scalability.
